Gran Canaria and La Palma rise to level 4 covid

    The change in alert level on both islands will come into force at 00:00 on Saturday, January 22.

    The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands informs that today, Tuesday, January 18, the alert levels for the islands of Gran Canaria and La Palma have been updated due to the unfavorable evolution of their epidemiological indicators. In this way, Gran Canaria and La Palma will go to level 4 of health alert starting at 00:00 hours next Saturday, January 22 .

    As advanced in the last report of the General Directorate of Public Health on January 12, the situation of the indicators of Gran Canaria was subject to continuous observation due to its unfavorable evolution in case it was necessary to advance the change in level. Therefore, once it has been confirmed that the healthcare capacity in both Gran Canaria and La Palma is at very high risk , both islands must move to alert level 4.
