La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife, on alert for strong winds from today

    The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies, has declared a wind alert situation in La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife from 00:00 this Sunday. This decision is made taking into account the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and in application of the Canary Islands Specific Emergency Plan for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).

    In this way, a southerly wind is expected that could exceed 100 kilometers per hour on the north and west slopes that will mainly affect areas and highlands and the north of these three islands. For their part, Gran Canaria, La Palma, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will continue to be in a pre-alert situation due to wind.
