Laser Location System installed at the Teide Observatory

The laser location system that the European Space Agency (ESA) has installed at the Teide Observatory in Tenerife is in the testing phase and starting in the summer it will routinely monitor satellites every day to correct their positions.

Initially, this system will make it possible to accurately determine the position and trajectory of satellites and in the future it will serve to do the same with pieces of space debris, which will be a great advance in space safety since it will be possible to avoid collisions with satellites or even manned spacecraft.
