Almost 4,000 companies shut down in the Canary Islands in 2020 due to the covid crisis
Almost 1,000 restaurants and 666 businesses disappeared on the islands last year. Fuerteventura was the island with the greatest destruction. One in ten businesses that closed are micro-businesses with one or two workers.
The loss of these companies reduces the productive companies by 6%, meaning current there are 58,105 companies registered on the islands with Social Security.
