Death on Diego Hernández beach
A man died after drowning on, in what is popularly known as the cove of the Hippies, in Adeje. The events took place around 12.42 hours when the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre of the Government of the Canary Islands (CECOES 1-1-2) received an alert informing that a man had been rescued from the water with cardiac arrest.
The 1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources. A GES helicopter was dispatched to the beach in Adeje and transported the victim to the heliport of the municipality where an advanced life support ambulance of the SUC took charge of his care and evacuation to the Hospiten Sur hospital where his death was confirmed.
Both the GES rescuers and the SUC medical staff carried out resuscitation manoeuvres at all times, without success.
The Tenerife fire brigade was also at the scene, securing the area for the helicopter to land and the National Police are taking charge of the legal proceedings.
