Masca opens on Saturday 27th March
he Cabildo de Tenerife will open the Masca ravine on Saturday, March 27, with a system of regulations and reservation of tickets after more than three years closed. Pedro Martín, island president and Antonio González Fortes, mayor of Buenavista del Norte announced it at a press conference this Tuesday, March 16.
In order to access the ravine, it will be necessary to previously obtain an entry on the http://web caminobarrancodemasca.com that will be operational from this Wednesday, March 17.
“For now, it will be free,” said the counsellor, however, later on, a rate will be approved for which Canarian residents will pay €8 and non-residents €16. It is not recommended for children under 8 years old and the use of helmets is required. You can also buy the ticket at the visitor centre of the hamlet.
Access will be in groups of 25 people every half hour. The schedule will be from 8.00 to 18.00. This opening is a pilot to check how this new regulation system works. Therefore, the ravine will only be open, at the moment on weekends and holidays. In addition, there will be a different schedule for winter (from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and another for summer (from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). The active tourism companies will have reserved 50% of `places in order to carry out their activity.
