Missing father and two daughters aged 1 and 6 disappeared in Tenerife
The Guardia Civil has set up a search operation in Tenerife for a father and his two daughters, aged 1 and 6, who were reported missing on Tuesday, according to sources from the armed forces.
According to the National Centre for Missing Persons, the children’s names are Anna and Olivia Gimeno Zimmerman and the father is Tomás Antonio Gimeno.
The father is a 37-year-old male, 1.85 metres tall and weighing 75 kilos, who was last seen wearing dark-coloured shorts and a black T-shirt, according to the description published on the website of the Ministry of the Interior’s National Centre for Missing Persons.
The older girl was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a blue jumper and black trainers.
According to local media, the man, who had no permission to take the girls left a farewell message for the mother and set sail with them from the Marina of Santa Cruz in a pleasure boat. The authorities consider this to be a high-risk case.
The Guardia Civil is also investigating the discovery of an empty boat owned by the father, located off the coast of Puertito de Güímar and was intercepted by the salvamar ‘Tenerife’ and ‘Punta Salinas’. A patrol boat of the Guardia Civil has taken charge of its transfer.
The Sasemar 103 aircraft of Salvamento Marítimo was in charge of locating the vessel, which at the time of interception was adrift with no one on board.
The Guardia Civildoes do not rule out any hypothesis and all lines of investigation remain open.
