Police clash with migrants in Las Raíces
The anti-riot unit of the National Police (UIP) has intervened this Tuesday in the Las Raices camp, in Tenerife, by firing rubber bullets during incidents that have resulted in the arrest of eight immigrants.
The Tenerife migrant support assembly denounces the “repressive response” of the Government in the form of “police interventions in what should be mediation and dialogue.” He says the inmates in this camp “can’t take it anymore” and understands the “revolts” carried out by them in the “inhuman conditions” they suffer. Today these conditions have become “unsustainable” and “explode from within like a Molotov cocktail”.
He predicts that “situations like those of today will be repeated as long as there is not a 180-degree turn in immigration policies.
