Vaccine program continues locally

People under 60 who had received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the Canary Islands are opting 80% to complete their treatment with the same drug, despite the fact that the Ministry of Health had recommended combining it with a second dose of Pfizer.

In the canary islands, 57,200 people under the age of 60, including health workers and essential personnel such as teachers, firefighters and police, had received the first dose of AstraZeneca between March and 7 April and were awaiting the second, which began to be administered on 1 June.

In the Canary Islands there are already over 440,000 people immunised, 23.5% of the target population, and over 880,000 have received at least one dose, which is, 47.2%.
